Visits & registration statistics

We count welcome visits, guest entries and signup starts using temporary browser session storage to reduce repeat counting. We also count successful account creation and email verification. Reports contain daily totals and broad source categories, retained for up to 90 days and visible only to the owner. These counters do not store visitor IDs, IP addresses, email addresses, messages or full referring URLs. They do not use third-party advertising trackers.

Owner-only visitor journey report

A separate first-party report links welcome-page, guest-entry and signup-page visits with successful guest-chat entry, first guest messages and account creation using a random browser cookie. Journeys last up to seven days. We store a hash of the identifier, milestone timestamps, a broad source category and starting screen-size category for up to 97 days. Signed-in browsing is excluded. The report stores no names, emails, IP addresses, message content, full referring URLs or account links. It is accessible only to the owner and sends no data to Google or AI services. See the Cookie Policy for storage details.

Owner visitor notifications

When enabled by the owner, first-party visit notifications record approximate country (looked up locally from your connection IP), broad arrival source, screen-size category, page categories and times. A random cookie groups navigation until 30 minutes of inactivity. No raw IP, account identity, private content, URL parameters or profile identifiers are saved in this report. Only the owner can see it. The newest 2,000 visits are kept for up to seven days, with at most 50 page changes per visit. Turning the tool off stops new collection and notifications. Country lookup does not send your IP to an external service.

Read our Cookie Policy for cookie names, durations, visitor counting and browser-storage choices.

Cookies & local storage

ChatCamp uses cookies to maintain signed-in sessions and temporary guest access. These help the site recognise your session and enforce access controls. Browser local storage and session storage are also used for preferences and temporary interface state, such as appearance choices.

Welcome-page and signup reporting uses temporary session storage to reduce repeat counting and produces aggregate daily reports. These counters do not use third-party advertising trackers.

You can block or delete cookies and clear browser storage in your browser settings. This may sign you out, interrupt guest access or reset your preferences. For questions about this storage or your information, contact the owner through Site Help.

Optional Google advertising measurement

With your permission, Google Ads measures public welcome-page visits using ad-click identifiers, device information and IP addresses. Personalised advertising is disabled. The Google tag is not added to member pages, conversations or authentication forms. Use Cookie choices on any page to accept or reject measurement; see the Cookie Policy for storage durations and Google’s policy.

Profile locations and temporary room photos

Your public profile location is entered manually. For moderation, only the owner can request an approximate location for your recorded connection IP. That lookup sends the IP to ipapi.is and is cached privately for up to 24 hours; it is not precise GPS tracking and is not shown on your public profile. Room photos use temporary storage outside your gallery, are visible only to members with room access, and expire within 24 hours or sooner with their post. Temporary photo data may remain in existing database backups until those backups expire.

Optional Celena AI conversations

When enabled by the owner, questions addressed to Celena and up to four recent exchanges from your own conversation are sent to OpenAI. No internet search is used. Other room messages, profiles and private messages are not automatically shared. The separate Celena page stays private. If the owner enables public chatroom replies, your @Celena question, display name and AI reply are saved in room history and visible to everyone with access, including guests in guest-accessible rooms. Public and private AI memories are separate. ChatCamp temporarily holds this short memory in server memory, separately per member and room, for up to 20 minutes of inactivity (cleanup runs every minute). Private conversation memory is not stored in the site database and clears on server restart or when the owner switches off AI mode. OpenAI’s separate processing and retention terms apply even though we request store:false. Avoid sharing sensitive information. With AI mode off, local site-help responses remain available.
